About Our Chairman
Founded in 1975 by renowned entrepreneur Deshabandu Deshamanya Nissanka Weerasena, the AIDA Group of Companies has grown from humble beginnings into a respected and diversified business with a strong presence both in Sri Lanka and internationally. What started as a passion for the gem and jewellery industry soon became a lifelong journey built on hard work, trust, and a commitment to excellence.
The name “AIDA” was inspired by German opera and reflects the invaluable support and friendship Mr. Nissanka Weerasena received from German visitors during the early years of his business. Through dedication, integrity, and a forward-thinking vision, he built lasting relationships and established AIDA as a trusted name known for quality and innovation.
